Lake Erie Fishing Reports

06/09/26 Today's trip was with the crew from Tall Timbers Campground. Ed, Evan, Jeff, and Jeremy took home 27 nice walleye. The program for today was Tru trip 40's set 65-90 back, 50's on the corners were set at 55' and 65', and the dipsy's on a 3 setting 60'. All were tipped with Yeck and Badmo spoons.

06/10/26 Casting trip today with Larry, Mark, Randy and JD. A great group of guys that don’t let a few miles get between their friendship. From playing softball, yearly poker game, and fishing trips they keep the friendships going. They traveled from Fort Wayne and Dayton to get together to do a little fishing on Lake Erie. We fished east of Cedar Point in 28-33 foot of water, using gold and chartreuse worm harness. Big fish came on the chartreuse and was caught by Larry, but mark gave him a run for his money and caught a couple nice fish himself.

Last walleye trip of the year ended with a heck of haul! Matt Helton and his crew were busy reeling multiple doubles and even a few triples. Threw back several legal fish, but didn’t meet our goal of nothing under 18” going in the box.  39 walleye weighing 130 pounds.

First perch trip for year! 134 for the Valentine Crew today. Doubles and triples were pulled by all angler’s! Not many junk fish. I’ll update if I get a total for the weight. Only moved around where we started after the wind blew us off our mark. Fished west of Middle Bass. Mostly 8” fish, biggest was 11”, and a few 7’s.

Same spot as yesterday. Left at 7 this morning, with a full crew. Back at the dock by 11:30 with 210! Almost ran out of shiners! Not a lot of pics today. But a bunch of throw backs and misses by all.

Hot bite and happy crew! Spring was in full swing as I took Emily out on Lake Erie for a morning charter from Lakeside Marblehead, OH. The day started with some rain, but It's Called Fishin' knows that sometimes the best action happens when the weather's a bit iffy. As the morning progressed, the skies began to clear, giving us perfect conditions to try our luck for walleye and perch. With our gear rigged and ready, we set out to explore the vast waters of Lake Erie. We employed a variety of techniques throughout the day, switching between trolling, jigging, and bottom fishing to cover all our bases. Lake Erie's known for its excellent walleye and perch fishing, and we were determined to make the most of our time on the water. While we didn't land any trophies on this run, every cast and minute on the water was worth it. The changing weather and our persistence made for an engaging day of fishing, showcasing why Lake Erie is such a popular destination for anglers. As the day wrapped up, we headed back to Lakeside Marblehead with smiles all around. Even though the fish weren't jumping in the boat, the experience of being out on Lake Erie and trying different techniques made for a memorable outing. Walleye action is picking up near Lakeside Marblehead as water temperatures continue to rise and fish move into more predictable patterns. Anglers are seeing solid results trolling with crankbaits and worm harnesses in 20–30 feet of water. Early mornings have been best, with steady bites just after sunrise and again late afternoon. Drifting and casting with bottom bouncers and crawler rigs is also producing nice limits. Fish are holding close to the bottom and responding well to slower presentations. Hot spots include areas near Kelleys Island Shoal and around the reefs off the Marblehead Peninsula. Most catches are in the 16"–22" range, with a few larger fish showing up in deeper water. Make sure you’ve got a valid Ohio fishing license and check local regulations for limits and size requirements.
